It's the same as Guild Wars 1. I thought GW1 actually installed to a folder location, not the place the exe is. I have the discs somewhere around here.. Put those three files into a folder, call it "Guild Wars 2", and put it where you want. There, now you have an installation folder in the exact place you want.
Depending on your level, you might not be able to (yet). I believe "K" is the default pet menu. Or double click on the picture of the bird above your 1-5 abilities. Only if OP has 2 animals total. He may have replaced his wolf while already having a different second. Without more details that was my best guess.
I really don’t see a reason why they should get rid of them, getting enough transmutation charges is not a problem, if you are not into WvW and PvP you can craft legendary gear and don’t need transmutation charges. They were annoying enough to motivate you to pursue legendaries. But they're really not an issue. Got it.

A race change would literally be dropping your character to level 1 because the old character would be deleted.
